Catwalk - an Enterprise Learning Activity
60 students from Years 9 and 12 enjoyed taking part in this Work Related Learning activity on 24th June. They were required to form mini-enterprises or businesses in order to plan, design, manufacture, promote and market fashion accessories.
Students developed a wide range of skills which will be valuable to them in their careers; these included problem solving, communication and team-work.
In order for the mini-enterprises to be successful students also developed Mathematical, ICT and Entrepreneurial skills.
Students were required to use mathematical skills in order to manage the finances of their companies. Materials had to be purchased and finished goods sold.
ICT skills were required in order to produce business cards, company logos and publicity materials.
Prizes were awarded to the companies that:
- Made the greatest profit
- Gave the most impressive presentation
- Created the most interesting and attractive accessories
- Showed the greatest degree of innovation and creativity
- Showed the greatest degree of 'team spirit'
